Storytelling is Influence, Persuasion and Innovation.
Storytelling is Influence, Persuasion and Innovation.
Duration: Six 1.5-hour sessions
Class size: 30-40 upper primary students
Description:
Storytelling is an effective strategy to increase language proficiency. As the learning of a language is more effective in contexts, stories are meaningful vehicles that carry vocabulary, sentence structures and grammar rules to young learners. As the children listen to the nuances of the language, they will also appreciate the beauty of the sound of the language. A good story will also engage critical thinking and promote understanding of people, culture or ideas. The trainer will demonstrate effective storytelling skills and inspire the children to emulate and work hard to achieve competency in communicating a short story to friends in class. The trainer will also use cooperative learning strategies to engage the auditory, visual and kinaesthetic learners.
This course can be customized for students who want to carry out service learning like telling stories to preschoolers or for students with special needs. Some of the previous clients include Gongshang Primary, Ngee Ann Primary, Jurong West Primary.
